What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

This company does good stuff. My dad had them make a custom dash badge for his 69 Mustang to replace the crappy sticker MUSTANG one. Said BOSS 600 in the correct Ford Boss logo font to match his fender stickers and Kaase valve cover badges. Quality is great.

    Steeda Subframe bushings

They are the same. Not sure on price difference. Either you're supporting a major player in the Ford modifying community or a small business that has been supporting this Explorer since day one. Can't go wrong either way.

    Ford performance borla exhaust

Yep. I love Borla, had them on all my Mustangs in the past, but the design of the system for this Explorer isn't great IMO. If it was half the price, it would be fine. But at several hundred more than all of the full cat-back 3" systems is a joke.

    Steeda Subframe bushings

I have the Steeda Subframe Bushing Inserts and JXB Diff Bushing Inserts. No Diff Brace. No noise or issues with mine. These super simple and cheap mods made a huge improvement in driving feel. Do it.

    Ford performance borla exhaust

Why pay that much? A Thermal R&D 2.5" or 3" system is cheaper and includes the midpipes to replace the crappy factory ones.

    2025 EXPLORER ST TUNING

"Soon" is the exact same timeline Cobb (not a user like Goosetuned but the engineers at Cobb) has given for the last 2 years for the 23+ F150s. We can see there's a solid market for tuning Explorers and F150s (I'd love to get my 23 Raptor tuned as well) so I'm sure HPTuners and Cobb are busting...

    2025 EXPLORER ST TUNING

Tuners are still trying to crack the 23+ F150 ECUs. I think it'll be a while for the 25+ Explorers. :( The 24+ Mustang ECU may get cracked as it will get the most attention due to more people tuning Mustangs than F150s and Explorers.

    Convince Me...

I'm 6'0" and am extremely comfortable in the Explorer. I've also had it on some 5-hour road trips and had no comfort issues. The seats in my wife's Volvo XC90 are more comfortable, but these Explorer chairs are pretty good. As a 37-year-old geezer, my back will tell me if a car seat is bad...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Drivetrain maintenance day! Changed out the front and rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid. At 53K miles I think I was lagging on that! If you haven't done this yet, don't be scared of those front diff bolts. They need a solid hammer whack on the wrench to break loose. My 6 year old son...

2020 with 20 inch Wheel Question on offset.

Mine are 20x9.5 +33. Your choice will fit ok.

    Explorer ST mud guard thread

I got the ZL1 Addon ones about a month ago and I like them. Small, slim, unobtrusive.

    20" wheels?

285/50 Nitto NT420V. No dragy runs. I came from the base factory 20s, so my ride is roughly the same, new tires are a little taller than the factory 255/55s. Definitely looks better though!

    20" wheels?

Lots have done this. Mine are 20x9.5 RTR Tech 5, +33 offset. Not perfectly flush but a very good fit. 9 lbs lighter than the stock 20s, so even lighter than your stock 21s.

    Recommended First Upgrades

Steeda and Fenfab sell Subframe (to Body) Bushing Inserts. They most certainly do affect handling, if the subframe (holding all the rear suspension) can move around independent of the body, handling will feel off. The stiffer you make those mounting bushings, the more precise the handling...

    Recommended First Upgrades

The Subframe Bushing Inserts? False, those help all the time. The subframe bushings are huge and super soft. I, and most who have installed them, notice the back end of the car feels more stable and planted in every driving scenario, not just being aggressive. And for the JXB Diff Bushing...

    JXB bushing insert

Yes this is normal. The metal center of the diff bushing on the driver's side sticks out further.

    Recommended First Upgrades

Steeda or Fenfab Subframe Bushing Inserts. That is a cheap, easy must-do. And JXB Diff Bushing Insert while you're back there.

    JXB bushing insert

Do it. It's so cheap, I feel It's one of those must-do items. Then as your a 1-bolt, grab a diff brace down the line. Also, while you're under there, get the Steeda or Fenfab Subframe Bushing Locks. Another cheap, super easy mod that makes a very noticeable difference.

Same-model wheels on ST and Mustang GT Premium

285/50. Yes, I have a sickness for the thickness when it comes to sidewalls. I liked the slightly taller sidewalls over 295/45s.

Any input or thoughts on this transmission mount insert?

Houston Speed Freaks put out a Youtube video on the install and impressions. Sounds like it helped, but did increase NVH. He said the NVH got better as the mount got used and worn in over a couple hundred miles. Looks like a nice, cheap upgrade. Would like to see other impressions as well.
