I'm sorry if it's been asked, but I didnt even see it on Google anywhere.
I bought a '22 ST this weekend, (woot) and the standout for me by far - is the chintzy plastic gas pedal.

My '17 XLT feels 10x better, and dont get me started on my Challenger. I feel like my foot is going to cramp up trying to keep weight off the thing.

I know we're deep in drive-by-wire territory, so there HAS TO be something better than garbage slip-on "metal" covers.
Has someone swapped in a different pedal mechanism yet?

ps, This community looks good so far! I was hoping I'd find something as good as twinturbo.net somewhere.

Compared to my 2013 Lincoln MKZ, 2010 MKZ. 2003 Infiniti G35.1995 Mercury Mystique and 1985 Ford Tempo, this gas pedal seems heavy duty, oversized and even rugged. So this is all context and perception. I have no problem with it. This is also my first truck or SUV.

No. If you want to check out Digi-Key and try to piece together a new pedal assembly with different potentiometers then get new springs, add better bushings and change molded components, go for it.

So the pedal doesnt feel thin, weightless, and without resistance?

I drove all 3 vehicles within the same day, and only the ST felt like I was stepping on a Hot Wheels car, or a Pop Tart. :unsure:

Thanks for the input though, it helps to frame things a bit.

I find mine to feel overengineered and extra bulky but then again it's a truck and I was used to sedans.

No one is saying it doesn't. But you're asking for a major redesign a component that would require a large amount of work, cost, engineering, and system integration for very minimal trade-off. It's a pedal; you step on it and car goes vroom. A tune will change what happens compared to how far you press the pedal, but a major redesign would be required to change the pedal feel.

With that, I'm going to have a Pop-tart.

I went from a 17' XLT to a 20' ST. I like the ST much better. I didn't notice much difference in the gas pedal. You may want to try different seating positions to see if that helps. I did feel like the brake pedal was a little high, but once I put in thicker 3D Maxpider floor mats, all was fine.

Of course I'm not asking to spin up an aftermarket for something so complex.
Really I was looking to see if it was just me, and whether or not someone already had a solution.
ie; "Yea, we know it's soft and lacking in feedback, but you can swap a unit from 'x vehicle' in there with a lot of work and it's much better"

C'est la vis

Funny part is that until this weekend, my wife hadnt driven the ST yet.

She got behind the wheel after a remote start, and luckily I was there, because when she got in, her foot pushed the feather of a pedal, and had it up over 4500 rpm without knowing she was doing something.

My wife doesnt like the resistance/feel of the pedal either.

Just stuff a tennis ball behind the pedal. She’ll love it.

Maybe there’s something wrong if yours feels that easy. It does pivot from the bottom rather than the top.
