Just got a call back from the dealership service dept. The error code enclosed is not happening anymore. They put 10 miles on the car since I dropped it off 2 days ago. And even though I dropped it off while it was making this code, they said it's not showing up anymore and they can't diagnose without an error showing up.

If you're close to the dealer, or any Ford dealer for that matter, try to get the vehicle in again when this error pops and leave the vehicle running. Even if the alert is no longer showing on your display an engineer should be able to capture it. Hope you don't have to go down that route...best of luck!

Dropped it off Saturday while the error was on the screen, but their 'diagnostics' guy shows on weekdays. Got the call today the error is gone.

Hopefully I'll have my replacement ST in a week or two. If the same thing pops up I'm not going through it again but will k

Maybe I should finish my thought before pressing enter. D'oh. I doubt if it'll happen again but I'm not going through another buyback. Will wait for a TSB or recall if it's that prevalent. So far, Ford's made the buyback pretty painless but with nothing new coming to dealers it's hard to find the right vehicle in inventory and I'm not willing to wait another month or two for shipments to start up again.

Haven't considered a buyback since I changed out the exhaust already. It was painful enough waiting the 3 days for my vehicle to be done. Couldn't imagine the months of waiting for Ford to resupply their stock! Does that mean you get first pick of a resupply or it has to have all the same options as before (color, add-on packages)?

JUUUST got back from picking up the ST from the dealership. They reset the BCM (fixing the battery drain issue - i hope), ordered parts for the driver side heated seats (in next week), and reset my driver side pin code (which I didn't know) = FOR FREE. I'll let you know if this resolves the issue(s).

I could apply the MSRP, plus options, toward any Ford vehicle. I'm not seeing any "fine print" about wear-and-tear charges but I should be okay because the ride's spotless and Minnesota has a pretty consumer-friendly provision for usage chargebacks. I'll be able to get the 0% financing but all incentives are null & void. Basically, I'm swapping vehicles and moving my payoff balance to a new creditor. That better be all there is. ;o) The dealer I'm working with is pretty rural/small but has a long-tenured team and they're very familiar with the process. Off-topic but now I realize why my father only bought his GM products from small-town dealers.

It was up to me to find a replacement and being picky about color (silver or white only) and build date (2020) plus limited dealer inventories made it a little bit of a bug hunt but it wasn't impossible. The new build option was there since I found what I wanted it became a moot point.

Got all 6 faults today just as first poster described. 8k miles 6 months old. Pulled over, shut down, waited, started back up and all were back.within a minute. Got home. Car sat all day. Started it up tonight and all were gone. I'll be sure to have my camera ready for proof if it happens again. Really pissed. Has there been a "for certain" fix?

The only for certain fix is to get Ford to replace your vehicle for a different ST...

My dealer asked to have me bring the car in next time it happens and leave it running so a tech can hook up a laptop and run diagnostics, which pointed to a bad ABS module. Tech said a lot of system faults/errors clear with a restart. Long story short, the replacement didn't work, either. The new ST has/had been flawless (May 22 delivery) until Saturday when the blind spot system took a nap. Probably a half dozen drives since then and no repeats but the Ford app capture it so I'll have it checked at some point.

Well, back to the dealership again - new error windows

8/03/20: 7,200 miles: Warranty issues to be resolved:
The following hard sensor fault error windows are appearing on start-up and/or during driving or both:
**** Cross Traffic System Fault
**** Blind Spot System Fault
**** Reverse Brake Assist Not Available (upon shifting in reverse)
Intermittent Failures becoming common:

- Liftgate Motor/Liftgate issues: Causing Alarm to go off at random times after a few minutes after locking car. 2 days ago liftgate would not open by remote, or using interior liftgate button or liftgate exterior button. Liftgate motor intermittently abruptly stops while opening at various lift points. You have to manually pull up or push down. Also, does not sound like it engages that last secondary latch lock. One day operates perfectly and then randomly fails.
8/11/20: All of a sudden the error windows are NOT popping up any longer. FLAKEY!
8/12/20: Reverse Brake Assist Not Available (upon shifting in reverse) reappears along with “blue camera” screen in reverse – no visual picture.
8/12/20 On-going issue since car was purchased: GET TECHs to change NAV to default to Florida.*** No documentation exists. 8/13/20: Dealership sales tried to fix by doing a Master Reset – did not work.
PROBLEM: Say “Navigation/Destination/Street Address”: ALWAYS defaults to State of Michigan and NOT Florida
PROBLEM: Say “Destination/Street Address”: Randomly defaults to Michigan and Florida for no apparent reason. Very strange.

Car has been in dealership last 4 days as of 8/24/20 waiting for module replacement to come in.

I'll keep you posted on the fixes. If there is any other area on this site that would be more appropriate to log in the ST issues and fixes let me know and I'll put these things there.

Referring to yesterday to my 8/28/20 Post. Picked up car ST from the shop today addressing all issues. here are the solutions:
- Replaced SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection) Module: Removed rear bumper cover for access to it. This apparently repaired the Blind Spot Fault and Cross Traffic Fault
- TSB 20-22590: This addressed the Navigation issue defaulting to Michigan instead of Florida and the rear camera operation which was sometimes when in Reverse the camera turned blue screen w/ Reverse Brake Assist Not Available error. They reprogrammed the APIM to the latest software level.
- Reprogrammed RGTM to latest software level to address intermittent liftgate issue and intermittent alarm going off with the liftgate triggering that. I have my doubts on that one. We'll see.
** Car was at dealership 4 days most of which was waiting for the SOD-R module to come in.

Now how long do you wait until it comes back? My 5 trips to the dealership was monthly until errors resurfaced again. Best of luck. Hope it was the last trip for this issue.

Blind Spot and Traffic error windows popped up about every 3 days or so recently, so that didn't take long to repeat. NAV problem was s/w from the beginning and that's good now.

The liftgate will take some time to see if that is really fixed as it has always taken a long time to repeat. It was causing the alarm to go off intermittently as well, so we'll see how that goes. I'll update as time moves along.

I would do everything in your power to drop it off and not take it back until it's 100% fixed. You don't want a long wrap sheet like mine. 5 trips to fix one problem, now it looks like a lemon on paper.

I guess in a perfect world you can do that, but sometimes these intermittent problems take multiple trips. Being an ex-computer troubleshooter I remember vividly. Anyhow, everything is back to normal until the next error window from another sensor (hopefully NOT). What I will be doing from here on in, though, is request service dept to document what the retail repair cost would have been without the bumper to bumper warranty. At least this way I'll have a good feel on what I'm dealing with in the future if I decide to keep the car or sell it before the warranty expires. I'll cost things out and see if its worthy of an extended warranty after original.

You're doing it smart by keeping everything in writing!

I know you already have an extended warranty. But what I learned on my last Ford Focus ST, you can get a quote from any Ford delearship across the nation. It'll be covered the same. But it has to be from Ford (not 3rd party).

When I approached my 36K miles, I started calling dealerships all over the USA. Just so happens, there was one a few counties over that gave the best price (all of them were different & I mean by thousands of dollars). When I sold the Focus, they gave me a good chunk back. Because I didn't get to the end of the mileage on the extended warranty.

Flood Ford has great prices on extended warranties. They were nearly half what our dealer quoted us. https://www.floodfordesp.com/
