The CEL is back after defouler install. Same code.

At least it worked long enough to get it past emissions. Can anyone let me know if the SPD downpipes will avoid this issue? The whoosh were the right price but I can't ride around with a check engine light on all the time on principle alone.

You're going to be told to install the defoulers which cost like $40 for a pair of them. I unfortunately had them installed two weeks ago and now have the same CEL. There's always a chance it could be a bad o2 sensor but I kind of doubt it based on timing. I didn't have this issue until the DP's went in.

The P0420 code relates to cat efficiency- the rear sensors are responsible for this code, generally not the wide-bands pre-cat. If the wide-bands were the problem there would be a lot of other codes.

First check for any misfire codes. Those codes need to be addressed first and could be related to your spark plugs.

If no misfire codes, you should check for exhaust leaks related to the install.

If there are no exhaust leaks and you install new plugs, then it's possible the cats are simply not doing their job. Defoulers are a band-aid solution to disguise other issues.

very sorry we are not on this forum a lot lately, we have live chat, a phone number, email, etc for assistance with your downpipes
each set of whoosh downpipes include spacers which will help the situation being described
if not there could be another issue present / see TMac's post above which could be very helpful
