2020 Explorer ST Fuel Questions

Hi folks this is my first post. Been lurking since the beginning. Just picked up my third 2020 Explorer ST in 11 months so I am familiar with the vehicle and have logged about 13,000 miles on the first two and have 70 miles on the latest Rapid Red unit. My wife calls me Sir Trades-A-Lot ;). I use 91 octane in the 100 % stock vehicle and the sticker on the pump only says the fuel may contain ethanol. I recently found another gas station a few miles from the house with the attatched fuel options (see photo). I am trying to determine what fuel options I can safely use with my new ST. I have followed along reading all the other tune posts so mixing to get e50 and an e50 tune is probably the best setup. I am tempted to fill up with the 93 octane e30 for regular city driving but do not want to jack something up in the engine. Any more advise or experience from the forum would be helpful.

I’d just run 93 for daily if the tune is stock and if you wanna play with Ethanol get an E50 tune.

If you don’t want to mix but want more performance than 93, contact ZFG and get the E85 tune. It has less power than E50, more than 93, no mixing, and generates less heat because of lower boost levels.

There is a separate thread on here discussing it.

$1.45 here in Iowa for E85. You can guess where my mods and tuning are headed...

Why stop at E30. E50 is the Max for full potential on the stock pump. In my case 3.75 0-60, and 11.97 1/4.

ZFG also offers an E85 tune for the Stock pump. It is good for 4.01 0-60, and 12.22 1/4. No mixing needed.

leave cali, commies run that poop hole of a state. i boycott anything i can the is in or comes from that state. do yourself a favor and move out.

thats the plan once the parents pass on. this state is getting worse every year.

LOL! West coast living! $1.79 for 87 in MS. About 2.19 - 2.29 for 93. I've just been running 87 in mine since day 1. 19,000 miles. Runs great in sports mode. May have to try a couple of tanks of 93 just to see.

Ugh.... I'm jealous of you folks stateside that have access to real fuel.

We're stuck with 91 and 94 which isn't readily available

the HP and TQ ratings are based on 91 octane just so you know. if you run 87, in theory the engine is going to advance and youll lose critical horsepowers. how many horsepowers? maybe 3 maybe 4.

More like 15 or 20. Also power Rating is based on 93 not 91. Ford used to actually state that on the website, now they state a testing standard which is 91+.

Basically even on 91 you are down a little.
