I’ve had my ST for a year just about to hit 15k miles. We went to my son’s graduation about 150 miles away. Parked in on Friday, Saturday I couldn’t get the door panel to work-there was a message on the display but I was just grabbing shoes so I didn’t pay attention. Sunday morning the car wouldn’t start-went into deep sleep mode. I never heard of this until now.we drove it home today and now on the app it says “To conserve battery life for your Snow White equipped with FordPass(TM) Connect, remote features including start/stop and lock/unlock* are temporarily unavailable. Don't worry though, nothing is wrong. This happens automatically when you haven't started your vehicle for a period of time.” Not sure if it’s a battery issue or an electronic issue. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions?

Most likely battery issue. Relatively common. Most people are getting new batteries under warranty and it’s fixing the issue.

Let us know please. I’ve suffered with this almost since day one.

Boy, where to begin. I've had my ST since day one. At first, my Deep Sleep mode would activate after 72 hours of sitting. I managed it OK with a mobile jump start battery. After a year, I took it in. They know nothing. I explained the issue so they replaced the battery to no help at all. Years later, every time I take it in for oil or tires they say the battery is fine and can't figure it out. I'm now at the point where I mobile jump start my vehicle about 7 our of 10 times I start the car. It can't sit over night or at times longer than 30 minutes. I'm good at it, takes about 45 seconds. But beyond me why Ford can't fix it. When I connect my mobile jumper, the headlights turn on and about 5 clicking noises come from the engine. Then the car starts right up. I've tried turning off all Sync and App stuff. I've tried updating Sync and Apps, nothing seems to work. My next move is to trade it in and get a new vehicle but my honor code can't do this and pass it to the next owner, just not right. Has anyone found the solution yet?????

Just went through this problem on my ST. I ended up replacing my battery (it looks like it was STOCK from the factory, original) so I got it replaced at a local Ford, and they gave me a 3YR warranty + if it has problems they'll recharge it and diagnose it etc. So far it's been about 2.5 weeks since I got it replaced haven't had the problem. It's not my daily driver in the summer, but I'll take it out 2-3 times to make sure everything is in working order. Costed me about $210 + $25 install. It looks like a pain to get installed, since Autozone and Advanced Auto wouldn't do it.

I will also add - This car has some weird kinks and it's slightly annoying. Unsure to how long I'll keep it due to these little issues, from cameras to batteries to even transmissions. (I don't have that problem but I really hope I don't have it long enough to experience those minus the battery).

I recently bought a Noco Genius 1 and that keeps the battery topped off. When Amazon delivers the 10’ extension cable, I will hardwire it to the battery. The Genius is under $30 on Amazon.

I’ve been starting to get the deep sleep message on mine as well. Honestly I kind of just want the battery to fail so I can get it replaced under warranty and then just trickle charge my new battery once a month. I do very little driving or I should say a lot of short trips. I think that’s a big problem for these tech heavy suvs.

You guys know all the last several model years Ford vehicles go into “deep sleep” after several days of no starting, right. If you connect a charger/maintainer make sure to connect through the BMS monitor and not direct to the battery post.

How do you connect to the BMS monitor? I’ve always just connected straight to the + and - terminals on the battery itself to trickle charger it.

Battery Management System (If Equipped)
The battery management system monitors battery conditions and takes actions to extend battery life. If excessive battery drain is detected, the system temporarily disables some electrical systems to protect the battery.
Systems included are:
  • Heated rear window.
  • Heated seats.
  • Climate control.
  • Heated steering wheel.
  • Audio unit.
  • Navigation system.
A message may appear in the information displays to alert you that battery protection actions are active. These messages are only for notification that an action is taking place, and not intended to indicate an electrical problem or that the battery requires replacement.
After battery replacement, or in some cases after charging the battery with an external charger, the battery management system requires eight hours of vehicle sleep time to relearn the battery state of charge. During this time your vehicle must remain fully locked with the ignition switched off.
Note: Prior to relearning the battery state of charge, the battery management system may temporarily disable some electrical systems.
Electrical Accessory Installation
To make sure the battery management system works correctly, do not connect an electrical device ground connection directly to the battery negative post. This can cause inaccurate measurements of the battery condition and potential incorrect system operation.
Note: If you add electrical accessories or components to the vehicle, it may adversely affect battery performance and durability. This may also affect the performance of other electrical systems in the vehicle.

Good info. But then where would you put the ground? I think a lot of us need to trickle charge every once in awhile. I’ve read it’s important to prevent sulfation.

Just get a spouse like mine. She won't give the ST a rest, so of course no battery issues thus far. My ST was built in October 2019 and I bought it brand new in November 2020 with just a few miles on it. It still has the original battery even though it had a rough first year of just sitting.

I also have the original battery in mine. My 2020 was built in June of 2019. I bought it new in August 2019. It had 7 miles on it. I have had absolutely no problems with my battery. I only have 15,000 miles on my vehicle. I keep my optima battery charger on it at all times when not driving.

I put the positive cable on the positive terminal and the negative cable on the bolt that holds your strut tower brace. As per the owner manual instruction
Thank you and thanks for that video. Very helpful! I haven’t gone out to look but I’m guessing we have a sensor area to hook like he did in the video. I guess alternatively that strut tower bolt would work because it’s still on the other side of the sensor.

Put your positive battery charging cable on the positive terminal and your negative charging cable on the backside of the BMS monitor in the picture, I have download it below. That way the BMS is recognizing that you are putting a charge back into the battery. Hope this helps you out. 20230808_222603_Original.jpeg
