How serious is this 1 bolt differential thing? I don't drive like I am at a drag strip. I drive mostly highway and around town with normal acceleration.
Occasionally i will hit the gas a bit hard to pass someone. Do I really need to be concerned ?

All comments welcome

Thanks
Alan

Heh Alan. I can see this thread going on for, oh, around 100 pages. Lol My thoughts are this ...

The issue was serious enough for Ford to issue their CYA electronic brake thingy "recall", but not serious enough to stop Ford Performance from selling a warranty backed tune that increased hp and torque. Go figure.

I wasn't worried about it stock, but when I got the FP tune I decided to get the AWR brace installed noting my driving habits. The unexpected great results I've gotten so far with it (0-60 mph in 4.8 sec) makes me glad I did. Now I do more than just "hit the gas hard" every now and then, I've already made several dozen passes on my Dragy and I plan to back that up at the dragstrip when the temps cool down.

I guess the bottom line is each person does what they need to feel safe. Hope that helps ...

Here’s my answer…

1. Mine is stock and will remain that way.
2. My hard driving days are behind me (I’ve done ~175mph on a foreign road).
3. With rare exception, I drive in Eco because I’m a miser.

So, leaving out 25% of the bolts holding the rear end onto my premium-priced high performance vehicle doesn’t really bother me (any more than if they left one lug bolt off each wheel). ;)

I haven't seen anything that would suggest that it's truly dangerous. Even in the class action lawsuit I don't believe there is any accidents tied to the bolt failure. It's just subpar craftsmanship, but which manufacturer doesn't skimp every bolt they can in this day and age?
