In the 2022 model year Explorer, the push to start button dropped the green led that the earlier model years had. I know that a number of folks on this forum aren’t fans of that led but having had it on my 2014 Explorer, I kind of miss it. Long story short, I went and bought an older push the start button with the led in order to do what I thought would be a simple swap. Well it turns out that the connector on the back or the 2022 push to start button and of course the wiring harness that connects to it has changed and it isn’t a simple swap. Same number of pins between the two but different connector. Foolishly, I didn’t take pictures of the two connectors before putting things back together. Does anyone know if the pins are a straight match and I just need to make a pig tail with the correct connectors on each end or if there is a difference and if so, what the correct connections would be?

Thanks in advance.

I was reading through @PlatinumST’s build thread and noticed that they had mentioned that the push to start button on their 2022 Explorer still had the green led in it. So is my push to start button minus the led the normal for 2022 ST’s and the led version only found on other 2022 Explorer trim models or did I end up with an oddity?

Looking at the Owners manuals for 2021 and 2022 it may have been changed.
This is from the 2021 manual.

And from the 2022 manual.

Thanks! I’m feeling better that I hadn’t gotten a one off. I also feel kind of foolish for not thinking to look in the owner’s manual but thanks to @Dale5403 for noting the change in the manual between the 21 and 22.

now back to trying to sort out if the pins are a straight match even though the connectors are different.

Just a follow up to my original post. I went ahead and pulled the push to start button to take some picture and run it down to my Ford parts department to see what they could find out about it as Ford’s online parts store still shows the 2022 ST as taking Part # 100F/H1BZ10B776A and the part I have is Part # NZ6T14C376ABW 101K. They initially couldn’t find the part number and had to go look up the VIN and build data and said there had been a change noted in that part but it hadn’t made their parts catalog. The parts department also noted that they couldn’t find a push to start with the new connector and an led on it. So for those interested, here’s some photos of the new (top) versus old (bottom) connector on the switch, the plug it goes into and the part code for the new switch.
