Is everyone ok with the giant tablet and terrible bezel?

So is it only the premium package that gets the portrait mode infotainment? I am super excited to get a ST, but that is just terrible right? Looks so last minute and poorly thought out. Do you just get used to it? Does anyone grow to appreciate it?

I think it's one of the worst systems I've ever used.

I'm totally used to it and love it! It's a bit slow at startup but in a few seconds it gets more responsive. I have had it almost 6 months and 5000 miles. My previous vehicles were 2010 MKZ and 2013 MKZ. This version of Sync is much improved.

I am learning to learn its capabilities. I have no negative issues with it other than I wish it provided more live technical info.

No complaints here. The placement might seem a bit awkward but after awhile you'll get used to it.

It does look a bit like someone left their I Pad sitting on the dash. On the other hand it makes it very easy to read the navigation map without having to take your eyes off the road. All in all I have grown to love it.

I really have no beefs with the appearance of the screen. I have no issue about not being able to upgrade to SYNC 4. I do have issue that the screen is partitioned into thirds it seems and Carplay is relegated to 1/3rd of the whole display. Carplay has dynamic scaling now so why hasn't Ford made an effort to implement it? I'd be happy with 2/3rds of the screen for Carplay. THAT would make me happy.

The size of the display is nice. Does it look like an after thought, definitely.

SYNC 3 was a terrible choice. It's slow, glitchy, and does not utilize its impressive screen real estate. 'Android CarPlay & outdoor cameras' both only use the top of the screen. Just ... WHY?!

I found CarPlay gives LESS options than what is default with the vehicle.

Poor execution by Ford. So much potential there.

Every car company should be getting their interfaces right.
"Hey Ford, this display is what your customer's interact with every time they drive your product. How could you not try it out first before releasing it?!"

I agree....hopefully they come out with a sync update that will allow better screen utilization especially for the cameras. Screen placement does look like an after thought but has grown on me but everyone always asks...did you install this after you bought it...... Would really like an option to change the background color to black instead of blue to match the rest of the interior. Maybe we'll get lucky with a sync update and Ford Performance tune at the same time!

Seems like if you can do a tune to drop 3 seconds of your quarter mile time that there is an aftermarket “tune” for the display. It’s just the layout that stinks. Is the entire screen.

I actually really like my large screen. Yes, it isn't as nicely integrated, but considering I also got other upgrades with that option, I'm quite happy. BTW, I'm coming from a 2012 Jag XF which had the absolutely worst software in existence. I'm talking slow on a glacial level and truly unuseable. So for me, it's a big upgrade, although I agree a bit lackluster.

Wasn't impressed by it on the test drives I took, both in terms of its look and also in terms of its usage of the available screen space, etc., so I unchecked that box when I ordered.

so its not like the software can't be updated - so there is hope?
I am not ordering one otherwise i would not get it. Isn't the difference in speakers literally 2 extra ones in the front doors? and then a larger vertical screen? for 995?

Yes there is hope but no guarantee Ford will make it available to our year STs. The first thing my ol lady does when she gets in is turn the massaging seats on. Happy wife happy life. Not saying I don't enjoy them on my hour drive home after a long day ;)

Same issue with Google maps. Ford is wanting us to use that outdated pos they use for navigation. The company that supplies it to the automotive industry is light years behind either Google or Apple. It is so out of date that in areas of central TX where the highway was realigned over 4 years ago, it still has me driving through pastures and stock ponds. Go figure !

In always use google maps regardless of the vehicle I’m in. I have everything stored and my preferences set. Just easier for me. My biggest issue is the layout. Just use the entire screen for certain apps.

Mike, is there any way you could possibly resize your patch signature? I'm forced to scroll every time just to get past your signature block.
