400A vs 401A package... Confusion when building a 2022

Ford's website seems pretty useless around what the heck the 401A package actually adds... Especially considering online it only shows 2021's anyways even though at dealers it seems they're onto 2022 now. Is there anything definitive where someone is able to tell me what comes with the 401A package and is it "worth it"? Is there anything included that I couldn't get by adding other smaller upgrades separately?

What I built at the dealership was the 401A version. But, I'm just unclear on if I could get something similar but save some $$ on random stuff included in 401A I may not need/want.

If I were to build one online it seems like even something like the 400A with street pack ($1000) / 360 Assist+ ($900). But then, what am I leaving off the table? If I simply add then remove the 401A package here is what it says is being removed (see screenshot). That stuff is "worth" $5K? Seems I'd mainly be losing out on: 360 degree camera, memory driver seat, hands-free lift gate, power outlet, and power/tilt steering column. That stuff is $3K?

Adaptive cruise is a big one to me. Once you have that in a vehicle normal cruise control just won’t do anymore.

Don’t you have to have 401a if you want the tech package?

Yes, There should be a a 2022 Explorer ST Equipment Group list your dealer should be able to give you to see what actually is included with each package to help you base your decisions off of. The base ST includes all XLT 202A content plus additional stuff.

"Is it worth it"?- Well that is up to you to decide on what fulfills your needs and fits your budget, and if your willing to roll the dice with the supply chain issues. Again, your dealer and sales manager, if they are worth a crap, should be able to forward you this information. I spent a couple hours going through the list to fine tune the details on the one we ordered. When you drop the 401A package you lose alot of the tech stuff and you cannot add them individually by picking and choosing parts and pieces. Much of this stuff probably requires a completely different wiring harness and modules which makes the package differences more extreme. It's almost like " All or nothing". And you cannot drop parts and pieces either. You have to drop the package. Hope this helps

Yes, The Premium Technology Package is "Optional" only with the 401A package.
If I remember correctly, The Ford co-pilot 360 assist w/adaptive Cruise option under the 400A package is optional however, I am pretty sure it adds the 401A package to support it.

Funny, after 20 years of driving with “normal” cruise control, I tried adaptive/intelligent cruise and hated it so I turned it off.

Meh, to each their own.

The wife loves it, me not so much. I forget, and it slows me down. With regular cruise, Id be in the other lane passing them without thinking about it.

Same here. I had a rental car with it and I couldn't stand it. The thing would miss read road signs for speed limit signs and accelerate hard on down hills. Took me forever to figure out what was happening. When I saw the option for adaptive cruise on the ST that was a easy Nope!

We are creatures of habit, anything we don't know how to use comfortably is often disregarded as useless. I felt the same then after multiple uses and a developed muscle memory it became second nature. I would suggest very shortly you wont get a choice it will be standard on new vehicles.

when you try to build the a 400a with picking and choosing the parts of 401a that you want, the build computer forces u into 401, I have the 400a, I miss nav and front cam, but its not worth 4k to me

Adaptive CC and Intelligent CC are two different settings. Intelligent is the worst one, cant read the signs properly or misses them altogether.

I enjoy Adaptive CC, have it on the lowest setting for car distance and works pretty great overall.

400A you dont get full leather either... miko suede inserts (which are actually quite nice)... you don't get B&O, front camera, adaptive cruise, power third row, cooled seats, heated 2nd row, navigation ... that seems to be it.

It’s the 12 speaker b&o for the 400a. 14 speaker b&o for the 401a

Add wireless charging and memory seats to that list. Loving my 400A with 360 assist+ and Street Pack as the only options.

Meh, not my bag, but I can see how many like it. I just don’t trust most of that stuff. But again, that’s just me.
