Huge gaps on body work on many 2021!!! Please complain to Ford this is not normal!!!

Does any one have abnormal gaps on the front left hand side between driver door and the fender? This is not normal for any brand new vehicle especially for the price tag of 55+. See pics. Any suggestions?

It’s an Explorer…not a Bentley. Perhaps do a better pre-purchase inspection on your next vehicle.

I'm from the Bodyshop world. I look at body lines and paint defects for a living...and it ain't perfect ...but perfect enough..

Maybe it’s the way the lights hitting the front fender. Doesn’t look that awful to me. Show us a picture that’s looking at the door and fender straight on.

Without seeing a pic of that side gap, I'd wonder if it might be as simple as a hinge/striker/door adjustment.

I don't know about your particular vehicle but mine look really nice. Here is a comparison with a new BMW. I think Ford is doing a great job!

I’m sorry but this is the 1st car it happened to me. KIA and Hundai don’t have problems like that…..poor quality control

You can’t blame your lack of due diligence on what other mfg’s do. You didn’t look…that’s on you.

My 20 Explorer Platinum has the same gap on the same panel. Im pretty sure Ford already got an earful from these things including the interior gaps from all the reviewers.

Whatever, its no biggie. Doesnt affect the driveability nor 99% of the people will notice. I only noticed it when I was giving the car a detail

Did you try getting some money out of Ford to fix it? I’m just too picky with that stuff

Maybe buy the Range Rover Sport with the 5.0 supercharged engine. You will get similar performance and maybe better suited to your fit and finish. Get ready to $$$$. Or after someone door dings you you won't notice the slight defect so much. Get over it already.

I'm thinking they could adjust that door and make it less noticeable and you shouldn't have to pay for it but yeah you should have noticed it before you drove it away. If your dealership doesn't have its own body shop it's likely they have one they work with.

I’d doesn’t matter what you pay for the car. If you purchase 20k Nissan Centra or Hyundai or other brands it wouldn’t have these issues. I’m sorry but 57k car should have a better quality control and don’t put anything out there that’s defective. My 1 month old car is in the shop for 10 days for broken seat basket, rattling, squeaking and other issues. 1800 miles. Been leasing and owning cars for the past 17 years this is the first one for me……

OK back home and there is no difference between driver side and passenger side by feel. This is a 2021 build. here is a pic. you can refer to the passenger side from earlier posts. I am still very happy. Not perfect alignment but totally not noticeable at all.

No, it's not.

I've seen issues FAAAR worse from all brands. Dodge and Tesla panel alignment are the worst in the industry. My 2018 Chevy truck had wavy panels, I joked it was waving at people as I drove down the road. I've seen BMW's, Honda, Toyotas, Kia's....all of them, not every one coming off the line is perfect. My old man has a 2019 Soul and I assure you the QC is far worse.

Ford has no obligation to "fix" this. And with your attitude, I'd show you a nice plot of sand to pound on.
