Fordparts.com doesn't give you the entire part number...

the 2020 explorer st part number is LB5Z-5310-A
the 2019 Explorer Sport Part number is DB5Z-5310-K

So they are not the same, my guess is they are very similar but the spring rates are different.
That would definitely explain why the rear sits up higher than it should . Looks like there could be a 200lb difference between a 2019 and a 2020 ST , according to Google , so a stiffer spring for the 2019 would make the 2020 sit higher .

This spring swap is a horrible idea. While they may physically fit, the spring rates are not going to be comparable since one chassis is FWD based and the other is RWD. The ST has stiff rear springs and putting the previous version in is going to be detrimental for handling. Simply lowering a vehicle for looks without proper accompaniments and adjustments is just bad. At least do it right and wait for H&R and/or Eibach to come through.

Just spoke to H&R and they say that Germany just finished R&D and they should be available to the public in the next few months .

Thanks for your input. Once a reputable brand puts out something for the 2020, I will likely order. Until then, I wanted to experiment. Do you have any plans for your ST?

Yeah, you’re actually right. I went out to the garage and crawled under. At the LOWEST point (the little air deflectors in front of the tire), it’s about 4”. The lowest part of the undercarriage is about 6”. The lowest part of the front fascia is 8”.

So, yep, much lower ground clearance than 8”.

Thankfully, I haven’t experienced any dragging or scraping, but I’m very careful. My previous mustang was REALLY low, so I got into the habit.

That cut your ground clearance in half. Nice! The RIMs get more defined when the vehicle is lowered.

I traded in a Dodge Charger Scat Pack for this Explorer ST. And that had a 4" ground clearance. Always a challenge getting out the driveway.

The H&R distributor here in Belgium managed to get a set pulled off of the pallet bound for the states, so I should have mine any day. Looking forward to them!
Do you have the distributor info in Belgium? I may drive up from Germany and get a set. Thanks.

Since they’re made in Germany, I’d recommend finding a distributor there because you may run into VAT tax and control technique inspections issues here. Just explain that you know they aren’t being.distributed in Europe, but the factory is willing to send single boxes via UPS inside Europe.

If you do t have any luck, here’s my guy:

Thanks for the info. I found the distributor in Germany but they don’t list the Explorer. I still need to find a competent installer here too.

My springs from Steeda came today. Ordered them Thurs eve via the web. That is great turnaround time. Ford dealer is installing them next week.

Do you mind telling what they are charging you?
