He still didn't deserve to die on the street like an animal. From that rap sheet he was not a good guy and obviously troubled with addiction. I work with troubled teens often and no one deserves to die on the street like a piece of trash.

Then he shouldn’t have been trying to commit a crime like a piece of trash and fighting the cops like a piece of trash.

I am a nurse for 39 years,I have worked the ER local and trauma, CCU/ICU,medical and surgical floors and prior to moving to Minnesota I worked the OR for 15 years. I have been a medic back in NJ in the 80's and the last 5+ years law enforcement. I assist with use of force training Chauvin should of paid more attention to saint george's declining activity and listen to his fellow officers. Those other officers 2 of which unfortunately were just starting on the street with 3 and 4 shift and Chauvin was their training officer.
Could they have done more perhaps I can't say what their training is like compared to my agency but I can guess they were worried about the crowd and what would happen to if they countered their trainer they made the wrong choice. As a medical person I can recognize someone starting to fail before others would not everyone can and the minimum medical training , Emergency Medical Responder course is simplistic just above the First Aid training for law enforcement..
Arm chair court watchers and emotional/feelings individuals that have never had to deal with someone on drugs and resisting which he was at one point have no clue someone his size even in cuffs can cause serious damage to himself and others. Chauvin should have recognized he was no longer a threat way before and let him sit up and rest against the squad. I have seen people destroy the back of a sqaud car as well as destroying a room in the ER all while wearing hand cuffs.
Hey,

All for self defence. But there is a time and place. Police can definitely claim they feared for their life and take the appropriate action. Did Mr. Chauvin look like he was fearing for his life?

I guess it comes down to whether you want a justice system where law is applied or a bunch of hired goons to keep order.

Jim, did you vet the meme above? Or did you just blindly cut and paste? Memes are great for effect and many of them in the humour section are hillarious, but they are not appropriate for court cases.

Don't get me wrong, if someone is a bad guy, go get em, book em, prosecute em and throw away the key (or execute them, but not an option in Canada anymore). But some guy with a badge and gun doesn't get to decide it all themselves.

Cheers,

Ron
Those are all facts in that meme about saint george

First of all , I did do some research on st george.
His rap sheet is longer than my arm.

I'm also offended that you would ask me if I BLINDLY posted the meme.

I also , for the record , never said he should have died.

Jim

This country is going to hell in a hand basket! Jurys no longer decide cases now. Maxine Waters and LeBron James are the judge jury and executioners. I don’t see how our country recovers from the racial divide that has been spun up by the media and liberals all for their own personal agenda. If you don’t see that, then you are part of the problem. As a retired cop, I know what these guys go through. I am so thankful I no longer have to deal with criminals on a daily basis. There is one common theme with all these shootings....criminals that do not comply. So to fix this, the media and left want to crucify law enforcement without due process then take all the guns from law abiding citizens. This will not bode well for our young country. People need to wake up. Thank God I will be back in Florida soon where we have a governor who supports cops and the rule of law.

Good morning Jim,

Rap sheet or not, police have to follow the rules. If they don't like it, they can choose a different career. There will be lots of people willing to take their place.

You have every right to be offended, big deal. I have absolutely no knowledge of your character, ethics, morals or intelligence. All I can safely assume is that you own an ST. That does not make you correct on any or every topic. Calling a murder victim "st george" reveals more about you than it does about me. I provided an opinion based on the facts I observed watching about 60 hours of the trial, while most of the rebutals are comments on Mr. Floyd's character, and while they may be true, they are not relevant to the case. If Mr. Floyd should not have died, what was the alternative?

Anyways, I really did not intend to offend you Jim. My apologies.

Can everyone not agree that there could be the possibility that the occasional bad police officer could exist and cameras being omnipresent now may actually shine a light on these "officers"?

Cheers,

Ron

PS. I am not easily offended by comments on a forum. I am a big boy and can handle it.

Good morning,

There is a reason why people in law enforcement, among other professions, are not allowed on a jury.

I agree with your statement on the media and it is very applicable in Canada too. There are very few media outlets to present a "conservative" side to the narative. It is also very frustrating to see multiple posts commenting on misleading headlines, as many do not read to the end of the article or story any more.

Good luck with your retirement and best wishes,

Ron

How is a drug overdose being murdered? Floyd didn’t want to be in the car, they took him out, he wanted to be put on the ground they put him on the ground, no damage to trac or windpipe manslaughter maybe for not calling in medics faster once he went out,

@Big Turk ,
Y'all got me on one side of the issue that I never stated one way or another. Show me my words that said anything about where I stand .

All I did was post a fact sheet that has been proven , or I would not have posted it.
I never ever said where I stand or not stand.
I used the term "offended" to be nice.
Actually it pisses me off when my intelligence is questioned.
Also when words are put in mouth that I didn't say.

I bet I can offend you too if I wanted too.
But that's not something I go around doing.
Character....

You apologize (but not really) then in next sentence throw another insult my way.

I been on forums for 20 years , moderated several, still do.
I know better than to ever post on anything political.

Always turns into a pissing contest. Everytime.

Have a good day sir.

Jim

Hi Jim,

I think I have you dead on, but I will keep it to myself as it is not relevant to the discussion. But that is my opinion and could be completely wrong. I said nothing disparaging about you character or other personal qualities, just that I do not know you and you made all the assumptions on my statement. It is called projection. Sometimes being quiet and following the conversation will reveal information, but jumping to conclusions tells a story too.

Have I mentioned anything on politics in any of my responses to you? I don't think I have. The conversation was started to discuss the Derick Chauvin conviction and somehow you made it about you.

You could try to offend me, but why would you want to. And to be quite honest why would I care about your opinion at all?

Maybe unlike what other writers on forums may present, I try to be truthful and state what I mean. No hidden meaning, no devil's advocate. Just what I feel or think. When I say sorry, I mean sorry. If I wanted to tell you where to go, I would tell you where to go.

Does that clear things up for you Jim?

Writing on forums only tells me you have lots of time on your hands, nothing else.

Cheers,

Ron

PS. I love a good discussion.

Maybe, but it is in the off topic discussion section. Why read off topic entries if you do not want to see off topic content?

Hi,

What evidence are you basing your cause of death on? Your statement is not consistent with what was presented as evidence during the trial.

Cheers,

Ron

I started this topic hoping to get others opinions without having it turn into a pissing contest.
Apparently that is what is happening.
I do not think it should be deleted because it is in the off topic section of the forum where discussions can take place non-related to the Explorer ST.
If the moderators wish to delete it please do so. Perhaps it can continue with a more mature discussion without bashing one another.
