22” Wheels??

Hi! New to this forum and an ST owner as of December!! Living the car so far. I got it with the base silver wheels and thinking of upgrading to 22” wheels and tires. Wondering if that will ‘hurt’ the car. Most of you seem to be car enthusiasts so relying on your great advice/ experiences! Also wondering if this change to car will nullify the warranty?

No issues warranty or otherwise going to 22’s as long as you have the proper width, offset and tire OD.

Start with picking a wheel width...then you can figure offset from there for how you want the wheel to fit the car...further in or out. For OD stay at 30.7” max.
I run a 30.4” tall 305/35 on a 22x10.5 at +30 offset. This is as far as you can push a wheel out and be flush with the fender...and it’s IMHO the perfect fit for these especially with a drop. 4CC94EC3-0343-460E-8CC8-C64EFCFD9424.jpeg

Love our 22’s. Went 22 when I found out the aviator runs them. The wider wheel makes the stance much better I think too.

22 inch dub ballers. Got tired of looking for 21s and found a much wider selection of 22s, so I put winter tires on the stock 21 inch rims, sold the tires and used that to offset this new wheel and tire combo (approx 3500 cdn so say 2800 US or so?). If you don't plan on lowering it (I don't), is there any reason to stay at the 30.7" max diameter? I was actually thinking about going with 21"x10.5" with 315/40 rubber, which would be about 30.9". I know 22"x10.5" with 305/35 is the popular choice, but I actually want a little more rubber on there for a little bit softer ride, but also since I don't plan on lowering it "fits" better than the 22" option (at only 30.4" tall, there is a bit more gap between the tire and fender).

The only downside I can think of is your speedometer reading will be slightly off but I believe that can be adjusted for.

That happens with any wheel/tire combo that is different from the OE size. OE 21" wheel with 275/45 tire is 30.7" total diameter, 22" wheel with 305/35 tire is 30.4" total diameter (-.97%), and 21" wheel with 315/40 is 30.9" (+.65%).

Some of the info correlates, but that's all about 22" wheels. And my question was mainly focused at Unbroken's advice to stick to 30.7" max overall OD. I'm curious as to why he said that and if that only applies to lowered vehicles. As mentioned above, the wheel/tire combo I am eyeing would be about 30.9" (21" wheels with 315/40 rubber)

I posted what’s known to work lowered or not. Could something else work? Yes...but it’s on you to be the test mule. Tire OD and wheel offset is a balancing act...a few mm either way can cause issues especially when dealing with a 10.5” wide wheel.
As an example a 30.7” tire on a +35 10.5 wheel will rub the suspension. That same tire on a +30 wheel is thisclose to rubbing the fender liner. A 30.9” tire will rub the fender liner on a +30 10.5. There are some +32 wheels out now...that may buy clearance but I haven’t seen anyone try.

I wasn't even thinking of the fender liner, that's what I was missing. I have some more numbers to crunch and measurements to make, appreciate the input.

Exactly - that is why many people go with plus sizing to avoid this hassle, especially if they are going to be running summer and winter tires.

Ok....so for the not so smart or smart enough to follow. Can we make this simple? will a 305/35 22” w +30 offset rub?

Not even close to rubbing on a 10.5” wheel.
