exhaust tips clamp style

I have been searching and it seems everyone welds new tips on the exhaust of the ST's. Dumb question but could you not just cut the pipe behind the existing fake tips and use a 2.25 clamp on exhaust tip? Is there not enough room or something? I dont see the need for welding the tips is this is possible or am i missing something obvious?

If you want to play hide and go seek with your exhaust tip, clamp on one’s are fine.

While waiting for my factory exhaust to fail or I’ve had enough of the stock flex pipes, I did this maneuver. Some may say hack job, but it’s cooler than the stupid fake tips. The exhaust does come out the back. Carbon fiber slip on trick.
