    Smoking on startup after sitting

I'd just turn the case over to a Lemon Law attorney. Missouri law states there must be at least 4 attempts to repair the same problem OR out of service for 30 days for it to qualify. There may be some other criteria as well, but that's where you'd have to get a consultation with an attorney to...

That's unfortunate that the dealer can't be honest. I ultimately had to take mine to multiple dealerships to get them to admit there was a problem. The first one just said "This is normal". Finally, I ended up parking at a different dealership overnight and walking out with the service writer...

It doesn’t have to be a safety issue. You can file a complaint about mechanical problems as well.

    Smoking on startup after sitting

I just had my engine replaced wrong weeks ago, and that didn’t fix it. Mine had $10k miles on it. Others in this forum had the same experience as well. My guess is it’s a similar issue that the 2.7L F-150s had - see earlier post. The dumb dumbs at Ford haven’t connected the dots yet or don’t...

Funny enough, FordTechMackuloko just posted a video on this subject - but it’s an F-150 with a 2.7l Ecoboost. Guess what the fix is? If you guessed turbo, you’d be correct….but the oil supply tube.

Interesting. I see what you are saying. They are slightly different. Those numbers are right off the Ford Parts website...but ironically enough one is a couple dollars more than the other.

Yep - it's the same part number. There are some different tubes, etc. that go on each side, but the turbo itself is the same. The sad part is...it's a freaking $575 part. I just had a $8000 engine put in that didn't fix the issue.

I'd guess it has something to do with heat. The part number is the same for both sides (6K682).

They got it approved somehow. I asked them to double and triple check the turbo for leaks before they put everything back together. The response I got was that the “turbos look good”. So not sure what else I can suggest given they are supposed to be the experts.

They claimed the engine was burning too much oil, which is why they went ahead with the engine replacement. With that being said, I never noticed any sort of significant oil consumption. My best guess is that the dealer really didn’t want to waste time troubleshooting it properly and instead...

    Smoking on startup after sitting

Well, apparently I spoke too soon. I've been keeping an eye on things and I saw what appeared to be the first initial puff of smoke out of the drivers side this morning. It was very faint, but that's exactly how the problem originally started and got worse over time. I'll keep an eye on it, but...

So far, the engine replacement has solved my issue. I’m shocked, but thus far I have no smoke.

Just got mine back today after a full week in the dealer. They replaced the entire engine, so we'll see if that fixes anything.....

Are you saying that replacing the turbo is what corrected your particular problem? Mine smokes regardless of incline.

That would make sense since I believe the Platinum also has a 3.0 Ecoboost.
