Would definitely be an interesting experiment.

    New 2025 Ford Explorer ST

Thanks, appreciate that. I was a lube tech for 8 years until I changed careers and haven’t been able to service my own stuff since due to not having any space to do any of my own work. This might solve that problem.

What grade of gas do you put in your ST?

87 since day one, with about two tanks of 91 back in 2021 when I had to tow a 3700lb camper. Otherwise 87. It’s all highway commuting for me so it doesn’t make sense to waste money on anything higher. Still goes like stink and runs smooth. 2020 with 167,000km/103,700ish miles.

Do you find you can get all of the oil out by this method? Been considering this myself.

    Towing with my 2020

It worked well for me as it kept the trans a gear or two lower rather than shifting up to the highest gear…I tried the normal mode at first and found it was dogging the engine and/or hunting gears at the speeds I was going, but the tow mode avoided that issue. I also didn’t have any tremendous...

    Towing with my 2020

I pulled a 3700lb camper with mine back in 2021. Bone stock, only thing I changed was I filled up with 91 instead of my usual 87. I also picked up a Kurt wireless/bluetooth brake controller, which worked fairly well overall minus a glitch or two. I ran in towing mode, and other than a bit of...

    Oil and Filter Cartridge Change

https://www.baxterperformanceusa.com/shop-by-make/ford-27-and-30l-ecoboost-fs-101-bk-cartridge-to-spin-on-adapter.html That adapter allows you to spin on an FL500S or equivalent from another brand of your choosing. I’m over 100,000mi and never used anything but a basic Motorcraft filter, and...

    New Safety Recall April 2025

Curious if anyone else here has as yet received this new safety recall regarding “improperly secured seat restraint fasteners” and if anyone knows anything more than the vague info provided in the recall letter - anyone discovered loose bolts or other issues? Anything we can temporarily check...

I believe I have some issues with the forum

Some forums might censor language too, not sure if you had any words in there that would have been marked “offensive” by an algorithm? Again, just a random guess.

That’s my one correct guess for the year then

I believe I have some issues with the forum

I’m not an expert at these things but it looks like you’re trying to submit a blank post. In that picture you’ve only typed things in the “subject” line, but nothing in the box below where the actual content of your post is supposed to go. Which is strange because you’ve managed to make THIS...

High Mileage Explorer STs check in!

2020 picked up in July 2020 with a couple km on the clock, now 158,323km aka 98,377mi. Still runs and drives strong, couple new CV axles, finally killed the factory brakes at around 150,000km, and cooked an AWD control module a few years ago, otherwise no major mechanical maladies.

    Snow On Roof

I know someone who drives an SUV but is too short to even think of reaching the roof, so. Physical impossibility is one reason lol

    Choice in Oil Filters

I pretty much stick to a Motorcraft FL500S (I installed a spin-on adapter a year or two ago because I hated the cartridge filter), as an alternative maybe a Wix if I had to. That and a decent synthetic oil (been Mobil since the first oil change since that’s what the dealership parts guy told me...
