    @Cdubya suggested that and I've had no issues using the permatex for 30k miles since it was put on. It can't hurt that is for sure.

    yes. about 45k miles to be exact. It certainly is better to seal it up when it is dry and clean and not actively leaking.

    ... yes, the muffler hangers (one on each side). The bent metal rod can rub against the round metal part. You have to rule that out.
