Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Based on the parts indicated, the bolt, bushing, and cover, it looks like Ford will replace the single bolt with a larger diameter bolt to increase the load (bearing area) capacity of the bolt. Regardless of the intent for using the 3-bolt subframe, the indicated fix is much cheaper than replacing the entire rear subframe, etc and will likely be a good fix for 99.9% of customers. Personally, I want the two bolts (4 total), but those who get the final Ford fix will be fine as well. I do NOT want the E-brake auto-on function, so I won’t be taking mine to the dealer for anything…, other than s trade in for an electric vehicle in about 5-10 years
FYI, the Mazdaspeed6 required a rear diff mount upgrade if you wanted to launch it as well. The oem was cast and would snap under shock load where the aftermarket mount was forged.
The #1 problem for Ford here is the safety aspect of it rolling in Park.

Saw people on the facebook group mentioning that they are getting the updates and picking up their new explorers. I reached out to the dealer with this and they already have the car updating and said I can come pick it up Saturday!
So if you're waiting on the recall fix before you can pick up/finalize on your new explorer, reach out to your dealer and let them know you heard the fix is available.

ALL? Not if you also believe the total number affected. They sold around 250,000 Explorers in the first year if I recall. They know 100% of their identified cars are affected because they know they did not include auto parking brake in any explorer.
I guess we'll know by June when they say all affected owners will be notified by. I'd be surprised if i get a recall notification.

Got notified today that our special order ST, which was built the week of March 21, delivered to dealer on April 8th and was placed on the Stop Sale list before we could go get it, was getting "the update". I was ASSURED that the performance of the vehicle would not be affected. Will not be able to pick up until Monday, the 9th due to work schedules etc. We will have a fun-filled test drive prior to finalizing any paperwork.

In a very lengthy phone call today with their recall center, Ford confirmed that my 2021 3.0L Platinum is not on the recall list. They noted that although it was built in September '21 and that puts it in the category of vehicles affected (built June 4,2021 to November 10, 2021) my specific vehicle will not be recalled for the PCM ebrake or bolt fractures. As I raised my concerns and pointed out the facts I've learned on the forum they politely listened and went on to assure me my vehicle is safe to drive and safe to tow the trailer (2,500 lbs.)
So now, with that matter settled, I'm going ahead with my plans to install the AWR diff mount as soon as it arrives.
